Water and Wastewater

Water is a precious resource that deserves protection and is the foundation of all life. That is why we must avoid harmful environmental impacts in our processes throughout the value chain and ensure that we use water responsibly. This applies in particular to water protection areas and regions affected by water-related risks.

By continuously optimizing our products, T-echnologies, and facilities, we are increasingly operating within water cycles, thereby reducing our use of fresh water. As part of our production processes, we rely on the recycling of process water and graywater from concrete production and finishing. So-called RC water (recycled water) is generated, for example, during cleaning processes and when grinding our precast concrete components.

The treated RC water is used, for example, as mixing water in our concrete mixing plants, provided this is technically and normatively feasible. This allows us to reduce our fresh water consumption and also avoid the disposal of valuable residual materials. Our RC water is regularly analyzed and monitored to ensure consistent concrete quality.

In construction projects as well as in our production facilities, the use of hazardous substances and water-polluting substances is unavoidable. Therefore, the proper handling of these hazardous substances is of great importance for the protection of our waterways and the safety of people. In accordance with the precautionary principle, we prevent hazardous substances from leaking from our facilities to avoid contamination. We strive to continuously reduce the use of hazardous substances and to explore replacing them with less hazardous or non-hazardous alternatives (substitution).
