Among the most important raw and construction materials at Max Bögl are bulk materials and binders used in the company’s own concrete production—such as sand, gravel (broken, 2-63mm), limestone powder, and cement—as well as ready-mix concrete, concrete products, and reinforcing steel and structural steel. In summary, concrete and steel together account for more than half of the raw materials and construction materials used.

A high degree of in-house value creation enables us to handle production and manufacturing in-house in many cases. However, even when purchasing raw materials, supplies, and services, our responsibility does not end at our factory gates; rather, we are committed to sustainable procurement.

To this end, we have developed a sustainability concept for procurement that defines minimum social and environmental requirements for business partners—particularly suppliers, Subcontractors, and other service providers—and outlines measures to promote sustainable procurement. We therefore require our suppliers to comply with our Code of Conduct, the due diligence obligations under the national Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, and our own value management system. For each product group, meaningful key performance indicators are analyzed and annual targets are set. In addition, further product-group-specific guidelines and measures have been defined to proactively integrate sustainability criteria into the procurement process. Thus, when making procurement or investment decisions, we take into account not only economic factors but also environmental aspects—such as the environmental compatibility and energy efficiency of materials and services—as well as social considerations.
