What must the component be capable of? Every formulation begins with the task at hand. Factors such as load-bearing capacity, compressive strength class, exposure, cycle time, and cost-effectiveness define the requirements. Based on these, we draw on a system of proven formulations and tailor them specifically to the application.

Only as much material as necessary. Material efficiency begins with the question of what a component really needs to reliably fulfill its function. Following the principle of “less clinker in the cement, less cement in the concrete, less concrete and steel in the structure,” we examine each component to determine where material can be specifically saved.

Concrete that fits the process. A good mix design must also be easy to work with. That’s why we tailor our concrete mixes to industrial manufacturing processes: for uniform mold filling, consistent surfaces, and less compaction effort. This increases process reliability.

We know our raw materials. Aggregates vary depending on the source. To ensure consistent mix designs, we therefore rely on our own expertise in extraction and processing. From the quarry to the precast plant, everything is seamlessly integrated—ensuring consistent quality and a reliable supply. 

From the lab to the building component. We develop and optimize our concretes with an experienced R&D team, state-of-the-art analytical methods, and a focus on the latest research. From the central lab to the binder lab to the virtual lab, specialized departments work in tandem—all the way to specialty concretes and processes such as 3D printing.

The best blend, determined digitally. We analyze our formulations and optimize them virtually as needed—for example, using our proprietary software for pack density optimization. This allows us to identify the right composition for every application, even when there are many influencing factors.
