With a visit from Hamburg’s First Mayor Tschentscher and approximately 70 invited guests—including the project team from the Max Bögl Group, as well as CEO Stefan Bögl and Johann Braun, Executive Board Member for Building Construction — Körber ceremonially marked the start of construction work on the “Körber New Building Hamburg.” At the large construction site in the Bergedorf Innovation Park, guests got a first look at the future headquarters of Körber’s T-echnology business unit in the eastern part of the Hanseatic city.

Challenging Building Site

The difficult building site required extensive soil improvement measures. Several thousand vibro-compaction columns were driven into the ground, and the site was backfilled with approximately 70,000 metric tons of sand and "Gravel (broken, 32-63mm)." This was followed by foundation work involving 2,500 bored piles, which will later support the foundation slab. Since work is being carried out in sections, Building Construction can now begin quickly, even before the foundation work is fully completed.

Project Milestones at a Glance

• December 2024: Site preparation
• Since January 2025: Soil improvement and foundation work

About the project:

The new Körber building in Hamburg will consolidate the existing Körber Technologies GmbH locations on Kurt A. Körber Chaussee and Weidenbaumsweg in Hamburg-Bergedorf, as well as in Schwarzenbek, Schleswig-Holstein, into the business unit’s headquarters. The modern and sustainable complex is being built just under two kilometers as the crow flies from the previous location in Bergedorf and covers nearly 50,000 square meters of floor space. It will house administration, development, production, and logistics in accordance with the latest standards. With this new building, Körber is bringing together modern work environments, digital processes, and sustainable construction in one location.
