Topping-Out Ceremony in Tauernfeld – Max Bögl Builds New Construction Facility Primarily to Support the Energy Transition

A modern construction facility and an office building with employee amenities are currently being built in Tauernfeld on a site covering approximately 15,000 square meters of warehouse space. The topping-out ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the presence of the Bögl family, the skilled workers, District Administrator Gailler, Mayor Meier, and the Deining City Council. The district administrator and mayor praised the continued investment in the region and the initiative of the Max Bögl Group, which also serves to secure and further expand skilled jobs in the Neumarkt region.
As the tasks and challenges facing the construction industry are increasing significantly due to megatrends such as the energy transition, the mobility transition, and new demands for safety and reinforcement, the corporate group continues to strive to implement more and more services using what is known as “offsite manufacturing.” This means that the planning and execution of certain construction tasks are moved away from the construction site and into factories instead, in order to manufacture cost-effective, high-quality products under ideal environmental and working conditions. The construction factory currently being built in Tauernfeld is a key part of this effort.
To support the success of the energy transition, the Max Bögl Group is providing a key component of modern wind turbines with its market-leading “Hybrid Tower Bögl.” Due to high demand, Max Bögl has significantly increased its production capacity with the new plant in Emden and is now also expanding its capacity for manufacturing the necessary components and components for tower and foundation production with the new construction factory in Tauernfeld. In addition, components for building services engineering (TGA) will also be prefabricated there in the future.
A total of 744 precast elements were manufactured and used for shoring at the construction plant using our Bögl eco-concrete. An innovative concrete mix design with an unprecedented low cement and total binder content was used for the Bögl eco-concrete. In addition, novel column connections, precast foundations, cantilevers, and hollow-core slabs were used.
The new construction facility will also provide our Research and Development division with ideal conditions—including a state-of-the-art test facility—for testing high-performance components and innovative production processes, as well as for the continuous development of concrete and binder systems.
The office building with its amenities wing consists of a total of 27 modules from our maxmodul division, which were assembled in just three days. Finishing work is currently underway. Production is scheduled to begin later this year.
The Max Bögl Group is also consistently focusing on sustainable energy concepts for the new construction facility and has installed the Air-Ice Storage Bögl (LEB). The LEB provides an efficient heat source solution for brine-to-water heat pumps. It combines two key units: an air heat exchanger and a water heat exchanger with an integrated ice storage unit. The system utilizes both the energy from the ambient air and the sensible and latent heat of the water. This duality makes the heat source particularly efficient and enables operation across a wide range of outdoor temperatures.
For the development and construction of the new complex, the departments of Technical Office for Building Construction, System Development for Building Construction, and Technical Office for Steel Construction worked closely together within the Central Planning and Digitalization Division. Several developments from Research and Development—particularly in the areas of concrete technology and floor slabs—are also being implemented in practice for the first time.
