An ambitious object in spite of sandstorms and outside temperatures of more than 50°C: Up to July 2010 a huge Aerospace Cluster shall be constructed close to the Airport Al-Ain. The desert project in the Emirate Abu Dhabi (UAE) near the border to the sultanate Oman will be started with the construction of the industrial building for aircraft parts for Airbus and Boeing.
After only 14 months of construction time there will be produced aircraft-composite-construction parts out of carbon on 23,000 square meters hall space near the city Al-Ain of 500,000 inhabitants, which is also called "the source" or "the eye". The Max Bögl Group received in consortium the order for the turnkey construction for the so called Strata Composite Plant in Design and Build Method from Aerospace Holding Company LLC, a fully-owned subsidiary of the Mubadala Development Company PJSC. Joint Venture Partner for the 42 million Euros project is Zarooni Transemirates General Contracting Co. The construction of the production hall with connected offices on two floors consists of 30 meters tensed pre-cast parts and a façade out of metal boxes. The core is a 4,000 square meters clean room whose construction by hot desert climate is seen as an extraordinary challenge. The whole industrial building will be cooled down to an average of 22°C with an enormous domestic engineering effort. Possible is this due to a 160 millimeters thick exterior insulation of the building whose thickness is even uncommon for the United Arabian Emirates.
